Watching Football In Turkey

If you like your football and you are in Turkey, here are the following tips from Tour and Takein That will help you achieve your goals ( no pun intended:).

We saw the following game AntalyaSpor V Giresunspur in Antalya on Sunday the 20th March 2022 AntalyaSpors website.

Antalyaspor is a Turkish professional football club located in the city of Antalya. The club’s colours are red and white. They play their home matches at the Antalya Stadium. In Turkey, the club won the First League twice in 1982 and 1986 and finished as runners-up for the Turkish Cup in 2000 and in 2021

Entrance to the ground

To watch regular games you will need a Passo card This costs around 64 Lira and can be collected from the ticket office,The site is online for ordering tickets.Prepare at least 7 days before the match. and it is in English. Payable by online , PayPal etc.

Buying A Ticket

If your just visiting for a holiday, you can go to the ground on match days and ask for a day Passo card and don’t forget to bring your passport.

Then they will give you a day pass. This is done to register anyone and try and keep any violence prohibited and prevented. Bit of a pain at first but I can see the logic. Just get to the ground a good hour before kick off for a day pass!

Always best to have your HES barcode handy The HES code (Hayat Eve Sığar) is a personal code, implemented by the Turkish Ministry of Health, required for each individual that lives or visits Turkey as a tourist. The HES code is required to enter shopping malls, government buildings, or when they take any public transportation, local and inter-city.Maybe not needed due to restrictions being lifted.

Foreigners can get HES code only by SMS. There is no other way to get this code by passport. This way available only for foreigners who does not have Foreigner ID Number. Foreigner gets HES code by sending SMS to 2023 with his/her passport information. As of 05/04/2022

Visit the AntalyaSpor store for your merchandise
Amenties

If you’re feeling peckish before or during the game , the’re plenty of restaurants under the stadium andfood kiosks in the ground. If you’re a smoker for some strange reason , there is a designated place to smoke. Even though the ground is open air.

Before entering the ground have a look in the Antalayaspor superstore for your football merchandise, everything from caps as above, tracksuits, shirts , footballs, accessories and much more.Even car stickers!

Safety At The Game With Being A Neutral Football Fan

We felt very safe and welcome during our visit, we turned up opening to receive our Passo card on the day, but they couldn’t release it with being a match day, so they gave us a day Passo card. The entrance fee was 30 lira for the game which was great value.

Just remember to have Google translate for any questions as the Turkish don’t speak a lot of the language.

The police cordon off the entrances from both sides of the main roads, however taxis, can get you within walking distance and plenty of parking spaces if you bring the car, best not to though, as it can be a challenge on your first journey. The local yellow cabs are very reasonable , remember to swicth the meter on:)

Traveling To The Game

We actually live in Bayindir which is around 2.3km from the ground, so we took a taxi. You will find taxis designated spots on most street lamps with the yellow box.Just push the button in for 15 seconds until the light flashes and a car will be sent to you.

Yellow car and they come with meters. These taxis are extremely cheap and won’t or shouldn’t cost more that 40 Lira- 3 English pounds from around Antalya centre.

You can travel via tram / bus from the centre of Antalya near the Old Town. Or if you coming from Konyaalti, it’s really close, just jump in a taxi.

Inside The Ground

All seated apart from the stand including VIP boxes. seats are comfatable enough with leg room and ask for tickets near the touchline where you experience the touch of the ball at ground llevel as it’s never a sell out unless high season. At present there in the premier league and situated above well above relegation and winning games.

With the help of professional football field lighting, you can use it even in the dark. Company Sports City Antalya provides the best football fields in the best hotels of Antalya, according to all the requirements of FIFA.

Food available inside as well as softdrinks ideal day out from seeing the beautiful coastline and amenities of Antalya

The Dreaded Exchange Rates For Purchasing A Ticket

As we’re permanent travelers and always in a different currency climate., I highly recommend Wise, formally known as Transerwise, we have literally saved so much hassle, time, and MONEY with this company.

It’s an online bank/exchange, which you can access via your mobile App and web Portal dealing with over 70 countries worldwide. What’s more, you don’t have to wait days, usually, you can see conversation changes within minutes, and transfers within hours from the fast banking systems. Further details are via their webpage. Really easy and a lot cheaper than the bank! Give it a try with a fee-free transfer of up to 500 GBP.

No Brainer Travel Insurance

We’re not getting any younger, so they say:) So travel insurance is a must and we have been caught out one way or another with traveling all the time, through stupidity and bad luck. A broken femur in Turkey cost me 1000 pounds, lost luggage, and many other little day to day problems. We learned eventually, and have used this company since World Nomads
